ADA, OH, July 16 – The Patient Advocate Certification Board is pleased to announce the election of new Board members. PACB Secretary, Marie Connolly, BCPA and Immediate Past President Connie Sunderhaus, RN-BC, CCM, Co-Chaired the Nominations Committee which received an unprecedented number of highly qualified applicants for board positions. According to Sunderhaus, “We have an amazing board at PACB and bringing forth new members helps to keep our energy at peak capacity. As a relatively new and rapidly growing organization, it is imperative that the board retain officers and directors who have both the expertise and the desire to help us achieve our ambitious goals.”

Joining the board in July 2019:

  • Tara Bailey, MPA, BCPA, CMC, CDP, CSA, RG of West Melbourne, Florida
  • Felix Davies, PhD, BCPA of Newton Regis, Tamworth, United Kingdom

The following new board members were also elected and will formally take office at the PACB Annual meeting later this fall.

  • Melissa Cardine, MSN, RN, BCPA of Gilbert, Arizona
  • Karen Carasik, Esq., J.D. of Winter Park, Florida
  • Heidi B. Kummer, MD, MPH, BCPA of Boston, Massachusetts

According to President Christine North, PhD, MPH, BCPA, “PACB is fortunate to have such a diverse group of board members with the experience and passion necessary to help us continue our growth trajectory. While the founding board always knew there was a need to formalize a certification for professional patient advocates, we have all been amazed at the outpouring of support and interest in the credential.”

The board-certified patient advocate (BCPA) exam is available two times a year. The next testing period is scheduled for September, 28 through October, 26, 2019, and registration for that exam session closes August 30th.
